Dog Supplies: An Overview

If you are considering adding a canine member to your family you are going to want to consider what you are going to need in the way of supplies. Dogs have many needs and meeting those needs will take an investment of time and money. While there are many dog supplies that will be a one time or at least a rare investment there are other supplies that will need to be purchased on a regular basis in order to keep your dog happy and healthy. Here is a list of some of the upscale dog supplies  you will need for your new pet.

Food

Quality dog food and treats are definitely a must on your list of supplies to have before you ever bring your new puppy or dog home. Puppies have different nutritional needs from adult dogs and older dogs have different nutritional needs than younger dogs so you are going to want to make sure that you supply your dog with the right food to meet their needs as they grow.

Dishes

Having a good set of durable dishes in which to feed and water your dog will mean that you won't have to constantly be replacing his dishes. Good heavy bowls that cannot be dragged around by your dog is a good idea to prevent spilled water and food. There are self feeding water and feed bowls available for people who must be gone for long periods during the day or the occasional overnight trip.

Collars and Leashes

There are a wide variety of types of collars and leashes for you to choose for your dog. The type you choose will be dependent upon your dog’s size, special health issues, and how and when you train him. Many times finding the right collar may be a bit of a trial and error and many dog owners have different collars for training and normal wear.

Toys

Experts advise that you supply your dog with a variety of toys and that at any given time your dog should have between12 and 14 toys to choose from to keep him from becoming bored. There are a variety of dog toys available to choose from for your new friend that will keep him happy and entertained.

Grooming supplies

Most pet stores carry a supply of dog grooming supplies such as combs, brushes, ear cleaner, shampoo, and nail clippers. Having a ready supply of grooming supplies will help you keep your dog looking good and feeling great!

Beds

There are also a variety of dog beds available to allow your dog to rest in comfort. Dog beds range from basic mats to some very stylish almost human like furniture such as sleigh beds and dogs couches. The choice of what type of bed to choose is entirely up to you.

Kennels and Dog Houses

Kennels supply your dog with his own room inside your home and is a great training tool to keep your dog from mischief when you need to be away from home for a short period of time. Dog houses provide your dog with shelter and safety when he is outside for extended periods of time.
